It all began with a Mouse...
Disney continued to work for many different advertising agencies but finally purchased his own studio in California. Mickey Mouse was first created in 1928 in collaboration with Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks, a famous animator during that time. Early in Mickey's creation, Iwerks is given credit for defining Mickey's features by creating a more compact figure using circles. However, it was Disney who game Mickey his personality, which was a new concept for characters in cartoons. Mickey starred in his first film, Steamboat Willie, which was the first cartoon to to feature a fully synchronized sound track. Mickey Mouse became a success, and Disney began producing more cartoons with the lovable mouse. Mickey Mouse is a very recognizable figure of Disney's creativity that still lives today.
